Black H cabin in Scotland

Scotland is an incredible place to visit if you haven’t been already. Cool cities such as Edibnurgh and Glasgow, the hills of the Highland, and the islands draw people in year after year.

And if you’re yet to visit, please, please make time to go. The temptation for the heat of the sun abroad is definitely something I’ve given into time and time again. But every time I visit Scotland, it makes me realise how many beautiful places there are in the UK to explore.

If you’re looking for a long weekend break in Scotland, or even a base for a two week holiday in the highlands, here are some dream cabins in Scotland you can book for your next break.

Inverlonan – Oban – 2 people – From £240 per night

Located on the shores of Loch Nell, Inverlonan offers three bothys six miles away from Oban on the West coast of Scotland. With private decks, wood fired pizza ovens, open pit fires and views beautiful Scottish countryside, this place is perfect for those looking to get away from it all. You’ll certainly feel you’re in the middle of nowhere as these cabins are only accessible by foot, boat or buggy. Inverlonan even say themselves that this place is where you can learn to slow down, get back to basics and enjoy nature.

You’re not completely left to fend for yourself though. Breakfast is included in your stay and is locally sourced for a fulfilling start to the day. You’re even sent a list of provisions before your stay so that everything is delivered to your door. This really allows you to relax and soak up your surroundings.

Other touches of luxury in this rural setting include access to a sauna, and a Michelin trained chef who can cook up a feast after a day of kayaking or paddleboarding on Loch Nell.

Facilities include: Personal outdoor bathroom with shower and eco toilet, mezzanine bedroom, organic toiletries, wood burning cooking stove, indoor table, sofa, woodburner, board games and binoculars, small camping gas stove, stand up paddleboards and kayaks, on-site supply store, breakfast delivered to your door.

Things to know: Dogs are welcome at Beatha Bothy and charged at £25 a night. There is also a 2 night minimum stay at Inverlonan. Not suitable for children.

Black H By Harlosh – Isle of Skye – 2 people – From £325 per night

The ultimate in secluded luxury, Black H by Harlosh on Loch Bracadale is a rural getaway ideal for peace and quiet on the Isle Of Skye.

Black H is minimalist, stylish, high spec and surrounded by the Isle of Skye’s rugged landscape. The great outdoors are literally on your doorstep, so this place is a great base for those that enjoy walking. However, if the wild outdoors gets a little too wild, get cosy in doors by the log burner.

Lazy mornings can also be spent staring out of the floor to ceiling windows from the cosy king size bed. Keep your sleepy eyes peeled as you may spot dolphins, otters or even sea eagles!

Yes, this place is a splurge but for a romantic stay or special occasion with your loved one, it’s worth it  to create a memory of a lifetime.

Facilities include: King sized bed, bathrobes, shower bathroom, induction hob, electric oven and coffee machine, woodburner, TV with FreeSat, binoculars, yoga mats, picnic blanket, board games, books and magazines, wifi.

Another cabin available by Harlosh is Wood H which sleeps 6 and is 31 miles from Portree. This place includes the same stylish details and Black H but is more suitable if you’re travelling with family or a group of friends.

Callie Bothy – Moray – 2 People – From £255 per night

One thing cabins in Scotland have in common is that they offer a perfect retreat from busy every day life. Callie Bothy is no different.

This handcrafted timber cabin built from Scottish larch and insulated with sheep’s wool comes complete with a wood fired hot tub, large bath great for day time soaks, and an outdoor firepit in case you wanted to toast some marshmallows in the evening.

Surrounded by woodland, you might just spot a pine marten during your stay. However if you want to get out and about to explore a bit more, the city of Elgin is just 6 miles away. Nearby activities include visiting one of Elgin’s finest whiskey shops Gordon and Macphail, taking a stroll to Pluscarden Abbey or visiting the gorgeous beaches of the Moray Coast.

For days in the cabin, soak away any stress in the wood fired hot tub or cook up a storm on the Tuscan grill outside.

A Sanna Croft – Ardnamurchan Peninsula – 2 people – Prices start from £120 per night

4 hours from Glasgow, this Scottish cabin is a pot of gold at the end of a long journey for most. It’s worth it though to be away from everything on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula, Great Britain’s most westerly point.

This place is one for the adventurers as it’s located up a single track road and if you want to nip to the shops for supplies, you’ll have to take a ferry ride to get there. Come prepared though and A Sanna Croft might just be the reset button on life you’ve been desperately searching for.

Spend your days along the coast and walking on the beaches of Sanna Bay or spot red deer and golden eagles on wildlife walks and trails surrounding the cabin. You don’t even have to go on a walk to spot the wildlife though, your private decking is the perfect location just to sit back with binoculars to discover Scotland’s wildlife. Alternatively, if you’re a water baby, hop in a kayak to slowly paddle around the bays of Sanna.

For a day surrounded by a few more people, catch the 25 minute ferry to Mull to explore the seafood restaurants and shops of Tobermory. Just make sure you’re on that last ferry back home!
