Cali Resort & Spa Review: An Adults-Only Luxury Hotel in Paphos

“I could come back here again” I thought to myself after being at the Cali Resort & Spa in Paphos a mere 30 minutes. 

Welcomed by a cool towel after a long day of travelling, a glass of bubbly and plenty of friendly smiles, I sat in the wonderful lobby where scents of flowers just seemed to waft through the air. Cali Resort and Spa, an adults only hotel in Paphos, was already ticking a lot of boxes.

This feeling was only further cemented as I entered my room, a Superior Sea View room with a balcony looking out the hotel’s pool, and again the next morning as I woke up to a beautiful sunrise across the Mediterranean sea.

I was lucky enough to stay here for 4 nights and what a wonderful base it was to explore Paphos from.

Located in Coral Bay, Cali Resort and Spa is a wonderful 5* hotel located 5 minutes walk from Coral Bay Beach and the same from the restaurants and amenities of Coral Bay. However, if you don’t want to leave the hotel at all during your stay, there’s no need to at all.

Dining at Cali Resort Hotel and Spa

Cali Resort & Spa offer half board and all inclusive stays – perfect if you want a break where everything is taken care of. We stayed on an all inclusive plus basis which meant that breakfast, lunch and dinner were included as well as speciality drinks. 

I’d recommend popping by the Sonata Lounge in the evening for some cocktails – just ask the helpful bar staff if you don’t see your favourite on the menu. These are freshly and expertly made and I’d recommend trying a margarita or an espresso martini! Although some of the more unique ones on the menu were certainly delicious too.

As part of our all inclusive stay, we also got to dine in the hotel’s Fiki Japanese Fusion restaurant for a 5 course Asian fusion meal – one of the highlights of our stay. We enjoyed Tom Yam Coconut soup, fresh Maki and delightful lemon mousse desserts and it was the perfect way to start our trip. 

Other meals at Cali Resort and Spa were just as delicious with plenty of options at breakfast including a pancake station, hot and cold food, cereal, fruit, and even bottles of bubbly if you fancy a special start to the day. Dinner is served as a buffet and the theme rotates every night so there’s no chance you’ll get bored when dining in the evening.

Cali Resort and Spa Hotel And Bedroom Experience

During the day, just spending time at the hotel is a luxurious experience. Small details around the hotel really add to the muted and fresh design which makes you feel relaxed the minute you walk in.

Comfy seats and sofas dotted throughout the first floor make a great spot to socialise before dinner – especially in the winter months when the evenings might be a bit cooler. However if you visit in the summer months, there’s plenty of outdoor seating. 

This muted design carries through to the bedrooms where the big, comfortable bed backs on to a beautifully designed wall. Trust me you’ll be well rested in this bed – just maybe take earplugs as there was a cockerel that woke me up at 5am one morning. It clearly hadn’t got the memo that some people wanted a bit of extra sleep on their trip. This only happened one night though, otherwise I slept like a baby only waking in the morning as the sun slipped through the curtains.

Opening the balcony doors I had the perfect view across the pool and towards the sea, an ideal spot to enjoy a morning coffee before heading out for the day. It was also the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of cold prosecco from the bottle that had kindly been left in our room on our first night.

In the evenings, friendly staff come round with turn down service offering fresh towels and little chocolates. If you’re out you’ll find your bed ready for the evening – such a nice touch and one that was so appreciated after our busy days exploring Paphos.

One thing I did like in my room, was the number of hangers. For me, on a 4 day trip, there was plenty of space to hang a few things I didn’t want creased in my suitcase. There was also small drawers, storage shelves, a safe, and a fridge. The only thing I would have liked in my room is a space to lay my suitcase out rather than on the bed or floor. Other than that though, this room had everything I needed!

The bathrooms in the rooms at Cali Resort and Spa are wonderfully spacious and feature rainfall showers with a separate hand held shower if you don’t want to get your hair wet – something I really appreciate. There’s also toothbrushes, an amenity kit, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and moisturiser in the bathrooms.

If you’re not exploring, why not take a dip in the hotel’s pool? With plenty of sunbeds dotted around, it’s a great place to enjoy the Paphos sun. The Calista Pool Bar is there too for any refreshments during the day! Or if you want an extra special treat, take advantage of the hotel’s spa – complete with an indoor pool if the sun isn’t shining.

The pool was a little cold for me during March, especially in the morning but I didn’t manage to try it out in the afternoon. It might have been just the refreshing splash I needed in the post-lunch heat. I did however try out Kallos Spa with a wonderful head and shoulder massage. This was a little indulgent treat before my flight home – something I’d fully recommend as a last dose of indulgence!

All in all, the Cali Resort and Spa was an ideal base for my long weekend in Paphos. Although we were out and about a lot during the day, I can imagine coming back here for a few days of pure relaxation, where I don’t have to worry about anything.
