The internet is full of accounts promising you that you can create a life free of the 9-5. You know the ones – “Here’s how to quit your job to travel the world” or “This is how Ieft my career for a life of travel”.
I’m going to put it out there, I love that. I love that there are people inspiring people to change their lives if they really want to.
However, what if you love your 9-5? What if you just want to travel as much as you can around your full time job? What if you’re not in a position to just be able to quit your career to see the world?
I’m that person. Although it’s not my whole life, I enjoy my job. I love that I get a guaranteed pay check at the end of every month, I get great benefits and discounts along with learning opportunities to develop my skills. It also helps I work with good colleagues and I get to travel with work – yes I’m incredibly lucky. I’m not saying the the 9-5 is for me for life, but right now, it works perfectly.
So maybe you’re like me? Maybe you enjoy the “stability” that comes with a full time job and you just want to make the most out of your weekends and annual leave? There are a ton of bloggers out there doing just that. They see the world around a regular job, just like me and you. And, they have loads of tips to find the most affordable adventures and make the most of what might be limited annual leave.
Alternatively, if, like me, you write a travel blog around the 9-5, these bloggers will show you that you can write a successful blog in your spare time.
These are my favourite travel bloggers with full time jobs who I go back to time and time again when I need a little inspiration for my next adventure. They’re also all worth following on Instagram too!

Jasmine is an absolute gem of a human. With incredible tips for girly weekends away, slow adventures, and affordable luxury travel, Jasmine enjoys some incredible adventures around her full time job. Her boutique hotel recommendations are always great and I think this is always a great way to make even a short break away feel extra special.
Jasmine’s recent travels have taken her to the gorgeous city of Lisbon, Antalya in Turkey and Pembrokehsire in Wales.
Katie from Postcards From creates content around microadventures, things you can easily do to slot fun and adventure into your everyday life. I have to say, I LOVE this concept and how it means you can easily fit memorable experiences around a full time job.
The Microadventure section on Postcards From is particularly useful if you need weekend and seasonal inspiration. Katie also has loads of ideas for short breaks away including the Lake District, a short break to Disneyland Paris, as well as package holidays to places like Madeira or trips to affordable destinations like Bucharest in Romania.
Although Katie calls herself a professional avoider of the real world, she is in fact a pro marketer in her 9-5 with a pretty incredible side hobby of ultimate frisbee. I’m not quite sure how she fits in so much travel but she does with recent adventures including a trip to the USA – check out her Instagram for tips on the Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios!
Inspiring others to achieve their travel dreams outside the 9-5, other useful content from Katie includes the best photo spots in Paris and the best countries that offer digital nomad visas. Perfect if you have a full-time job that allows you location independence!
Before currently settling in London, Jess has worked at Disneyland Paris and in hospitality in the USA. Now a resident of the UK’s capital, Jess takes advantage of London’s connections to Europe with short breaks to places like Copenhagen and Tenerife.
Jess also has content around living in London including ideas of day trips you can take from the capital.
Caroline’s blog is an incredible resource for those working a 9-5. Stretching her 32.5 days of annual leave as far as she can, Caroline has seen places like Croatia, Japan, Greece, Iceland and many more around a full time job.
Her recent sabbatical – I know, a sabbatical is a dream when working in a 9-5, right? – took her to Japan, Madeira, Spain, Turkey, Portugal and France among many other places. Her specialty though is European city breaks where lots of good food, cultural sites, and mid-range hotels and accommodation are key features of her content.
What I love about Caroline’s blog are the detailed guides she creates. Either in the form of an itinerary or brilliant lists of things to do in various destinations, I’d make Pack The Suitcases a first port of call if you’re visiting any of the destinations Caroline’s covered. Especially Madeira, she’s a pretty good expert on this beautiful Portuguese island.
