When you’re invited for a luxurious weekend in a woodland cabin in the middle of the glorious Yorkshire countryside, you can hardly say no right?
Well, when I got invited to stay at North Star Club, Sancton in Yorkshire, I said yes, yes, YES! My sister and I took a little break and drove 50 minutes from Leeds along the M62 towards North Star Club, Sancton.
This luxury woodland retreat was just what we both needed after a busy week at work; a place to get some fresh air and enjoy a slow weekend with some time out.
So if you’re wanting to escape city life, or a cosy weekend away, North Star Club is just for you. Here’s my review of North Star Club…

North Star Club in Yorkshire is a collection of wooden cabins designed so that guests can have a luxury weekend away in the countryside without having to sacrifice any home comforts.
Cabins come with pillow like level of comfort beds, log burners, huge bathrooms, and a cute living room. There’s also an outside veranda so you can eat food al fresco if you wish to do so. It’s just like camping but there’s not an air bed, outdoor toilet, camping stove or sleeping bag in sight. Okay, so maybe it’s not like camping at all…
North Star Club is in between York and Beverley, near a cute country village called Sancton. It feels like it’s in the middle of nowhere but it’s conveniently around 10 minutes from the M62.
That means it’s super easy to get to even if you’re travelling from outside of Yorkshire. If you’re using your satnav to get to North Star Club, make sure to use the postcode YO43 4RE. Then follow the wooden signs for North Star Club.
Arriving in the daylight for a bit of luxury glamping at North Star Club was a massive help as there are some properly narrow country lanes driving up to this place. However, it’s well signposted so even if you’re arriving after sunset, you’re not going to get lost. Just keep an eye out for the wooden signs!
You’ll be welcomed by fairy lights and the quietest woodland setting before getting the key to your cosy wooden cabin. You can drive your car up to the cabin to unload your stuff. Then, once you’re unpacked, you’re free to settle in and enjoy your weekend North Star Club as you wish. Let me tell you, it’s so relaxing from the very first step you take into your lodge.
I was lucky enough to be able to stay in the Star Suite at North Star Club, the wooden cabin with the oh so Instagrammable copper bath in the bathroom. It’s beautiful right? Here’s what the Star Suite is like and what’s in the cabin…
The living area of the Star Suite is only the first of many surprises in this gorgeous cabin. There’s a sofa to lounge out on, which can also be turned into a sofa bed. In the front room, there’s a small table to enjoy dinner at, and a fridge freezer for storing food.
You’ll also find some shelves with plates, bowls, mugs, cutlery and BBQ equipment all ready for you to use! There’s also a kettle, a selection of tea, coffee and hot chocolate so you can make a warm drink on arrival. Perfect!
The huge veranda looks out onto the woodland where you can see squirrels running around and pheasants strolling past. There’s a practical gas fired BBQ, a bench and a huge table, which I can imagine are perfect for enjoying big dinners on in the summer.
Just off the living area is the second bedroom of North Star Club’s Star Suite. In here there are a set of bunk beds, a hair dryer and a dressing table with a mirror. This room, although small, is perfect if you’re coming here for a family weekend away.
The main bedroom though definitely has the wow factor. As you walk in through the double wooden doors, you’re faced with a luxurious, huge bed covered in a faux-fur duvet and surrounded by wooden beams. The wooden floor creaks slightly under your feet and the windows at either side of the room give you views out into the woodland and let the light stream in during the day.
For the cosy nights in, there’s a log burner and wood in the corner of the room and candles are dotted around everywhere. The dark décor of the room could seem quite imposing but on a cool evening, the copper lighting and fairy lights create an atmosphere that will make you never want to leave.
You think the bedroom is amazing but I reckon the bathroom is why this suite is called the Star Suite. This room is huge. Seriously huge. It’s got the standard bathroom stuff, you know, a toilet, a sink and a shower but then there’s the bath. The bath is the showstopper. This luxurious, deep, copper bath takes centre stage and it might just be the highlight of your evenings at North Star Club.
Yes, the Star Suite comes complete with a sauna. How cool is that? So, if you need to warm up on a winter’s day and the copper bath isn’t enough, hop in the sauna. It’s an easy-to-work infrared sauna and it definitely gives you all the hygge feels while you’re relaxing in the woodland.
No matter how nice the Star Suite is, you might not want to spend all your time in there. If you do venture out, make sure you go to The Woodshed, North Star Club’s central lodge.
There’s a huge log burner in here, comfy sofas, fur cushions, magazines, a guitar and an honesty bar where you can treat yourself to a mouth-watering chocolate brownie and a hot chocolate or a cup of tea.
For more of a true camping, rather than luxury glamping, experience, grab some wood and matches and get out into the fresh air to toast some marshmallows over an open fire. Even if it’s cold outside the fire keeps you warm and the toasted marshmallows – which you’ll find in your cabin – are delicious.
Book your stay at North Star Club, Yorkshire
Well, you can easily spend a weekend lounging around. You know, just relax in the cabin reading magazines and books, or soak up the surroundings of North Star Club. However, you’re in Yorkshire and it’s a beautiful county to explore so I can fully recommend going out for an afternoon to the coast or to the neighbouring city of York.
While at North Star Club, my sister, Dad and I all went out to Beverley. This is a great little market town with cute tea rooms, lots of individual shops, and a market.
There are also a few restaurants if you don’t fancy cooking. Beverley is around 25 minutes away so it’s perfect if you have a car. If you don’t have your own transport though, why not take a walk into the village of Sancton? A place called The Star at Sancton apparently does a cracking lunch – perfect after a walk in the countryside!
